Websense® Announces TriGeo Support for Websense Web Security Suite version 6.2
Best-of-breed web filtering and web security software seamlessly integrated into TriGeo's Security Information Management solution
SAN DIEGO, June 19, 2006 -- Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN), a global leader in web security and web filtering productivity software, and TriGeo
Network Security, a leading provider of comprehensive security information management (SIM) solutions for the mid-market, today announced the integration of
Websense® Web Security Suite™ v6.2 web filtering and web security software with TriGeo's SIM solution.
Using Websense Web Security Suite with TriGeo SIM, organizations can access enterprise-wide security information, including employee web-surfing patterns, in a single,
centralized console, enabling a quick and automated response when exposed to security threats such as from a hacking intrusion, viruses, spyware and keylogging software.
The integration provides customers with automated processes to report on threats detected and blocked by Websense software. For example, if Websense detects malicious
communications coming from an endpoint, Websense will automatically alert TriGeo SIM which will correlate that information with other network notifications and alert the
administrator of the security risk. The security capability and efficiency of the joint solution provides organizations with a greater overall return on investment by
mitigating threats and automating response processes.
Recently released Websense Web Security Suite v6.2 uses the same award-winning, easy-to-use web security functionality as previous versions with added features that
further position the software as an innovative web and endpoint security solution. Websense Web Security Suite v6.2 provides automatic protection from drive-by spyware
and signature-based protection from malicious traffic on corporate networks. The Security Suite also allows proactive control over malicious network traffic and management
of employee access to web-based threats. Websense is the first company in the web security market to actively seek out and block bot websites, the protocols they employ,
and the launch of bots at the desktop.
The TriGeo SIM has the unique ability to actively defend the network through highly targeted correlation rules, behavior analysis and integration with network infrastructure.
The defensive arsenal includes the ability to quarantine, block, route and control services, processes, accounts and privileges.
"TriGeo is one of the top real-time security information management appliances and the only one that's designed to automatically identify, notify and respond to network attacks,
suspicious behavior and policy violations," said Michelle Dickman, President, TriGeo Network Security. "By aligning TriGeo with Websense software, our mutual customers gain
enterprise-wide network visibility, leading edge web security, and proactive network defense"
Websense Web Security Suite v6.2 delivers comprehensive protection by blocking access to websites hosting bot command-and-control centers, eliminating non-HTTP bot network
traffic, and blocking the launch and spread of bots and bot networks. Additional key security features of Websense Web Security Suite v6.2 include protection from email-borne
worms, enhanced protection against drive-by spyware, management of Skype in enterprise networks, and the ability to manage non-Port 80 HTTP traffic. At the endpoint, Websense
Client Policy Manager™ (CPM) and Websense Web Security Suite-Lockdown Edition™ integrate with Microsoft XP firewall and provide improved support for Cisco's
Network Admissions Control.
"Websense web security software provides proactive protection against internet threats associated with bots and bot networks and by blocking access to websites that contain
malicious code, spyware, and crimeware," said Steve Kelley, Director of Strategic Alliances for Websense, Inc. "The integration of Websense software with TriGeo SIM takes an
expansive array of web-based security threats and allows IT organizations to correlate events from Websense with TriGeo's enterprise-wide view of the network. This means IT
organizations can immediately take action against a hacking intrusion or keylogging software as they occur."
In addition to having the most effective mechanism for protecting organizations and employees from spyware, malware and crimeware by preventing access to infected and malicious
websites, Websense v6.2 software functions as an easy-to-use, highly effective, proven alternative to Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention (IDS/IPS) services. The
software provides the advantages of IDS/IPS without the complexity or advanced IT skills required for deployment and maintenance. Furthermore, by controlling the use or launch
of malicious, unwanted, and questionable applications, Websense Web Security Suite-Lockdown Edition serves as an effective and low-risk alternative endpoint security solution to
behavior-based Host Intrusion Prevention Solutions (HIPS).
