When I came into the office this morning I noticed that my TriGeo Console's USB-Defender tab was flashing. It appears that at 10:15pm someone had plugged an Apple I-Phone into one of the workstations in our lending department. We are a financial institution so this was alarming...also since we are only open until 6:30pm I had to find out who it could be.

After reviewing the security camera footage I discovered that one of the cleaning crew members had brought in her teenage son. He powered up the workstation and plugged in his I-Phone. Not only did TriGeo notify me of the unauthorized use of a USB device, it allowed me to verify that an unauthorized individual was in the credit union after hours.

Over the years I've had the opportunity to work with many technology companies some good and some not so good. We have a strict policy against vendors using our network. When vendor computers are connected to our network, they generate many failed authorization alerts. There have already been two cases where TriGeo has alerted us to unauthorized computers on our network. Using the rules in TriGeo, if we see 5 failed authentication attempts within 10 seconds from the same machine, we infer that that computer is an intruder.

Another way that TriGeo has helped us is when we saw some odd events occurring on the console every 15 minutes. It turned out to be caused by an old application we no longer used. We saw this as a security risk. We removed the application, removing a potential security risk, and reducing the number of applications on the network.
